The Canadian Red Cross is assisiting a Colchester County family after a fire earlier today.East Montrose, Colchester County – A family of nine is receiving assistance from the Red Cross after being displaced by a fire earlier today in the small community of East Montrose, Colchester County which is near Portapique, about 40 km from Truro.
It was noted in a release from the Red Cross the fire “heavily damaged” the house along East Montrose Road, and they’re assisting two adults and seven children with lodging, meals, and some other basics “while they await additional help through insurance.” Two family members were home at the time of the fire which was reported around noon today, and there were no injuries.
