An assault charge against former Fort Worth police officer Mark Force was dropped.
Force’s attorney, Tiffany Burks, said in a statement that Force and his wife, who was the alleged victim, were “extremely disappointed” with the police investigation and arrest.
“The case should have never gotten this far, but we are pleased that the attorneys within the District Attorney’s Office closely reviewed this case and did the right thing,” Burks said. “Corporal Force has devoted his life to helping and protecting others. He is looking forward to putting this behind him and to brighter days ahead.”
A Fort Worth police spokesperson said the department “respects the decision made” by the district attorney’s office but declined to comment further, citing the appeals process for Force’s firing.
