A reserved table at Gabby’s diner on Danforth Avenue will soon turn into the centre of a memorial service in remembrance of frequent customer and retired CBC Radio journalist Michael Finlay, who died aWith a Pilsner in hand and chicken wings in front of him, Finlay sat time and again for six years at the same table in the diner, said the manager of the restaurant.
Finlay died from medical complications a week after a random daylight attack on a Danforth sidewalk. The cancer survivor was initially discharged after sustaining injuries to his ribs but then readmitted to intensive care due to cardiac distress before dying on Jan. 31.
