The performing arts high school made famous in the movie 'Fame' has appointed an acting principal. The former principal departed after students threatened to turn their backs on her during the school's graduation ceremony.
Two weeks after the abrupt departure of the principal of Manhattan’s LaGuardia high school for the arts, the city named a temporary replacement Monday from another arts high school.
The Department of Education tapped Yeou-Jey Vasconcelos, principal of Talent Unlimited High School on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, to serve as interim acting principal of LaGuardia, the Upper West Side school known for its spotlight in the 1980 film “Fame.”
