Construction on a new River District park could begin in 2023, while planning for False Creek park is set to continue through 2024.

The waterfront in the East Park project area is paved with a deck that was originally built as a temporary structure for Expo ’86, and the park board says that as the end of its structural life approaches, this provides an opportunity “reimagine this portion of the shoreline.”Photo by City of VancouverPlanning for East Park will incorporate several considerations, including flood protection, climate change, shoreline ecology, and the area’s historic importance to the local First Nations.
The city is asking residents to share input about East Park before Dec. 8 by phoning 604-873-7877 or visiting . Public engagement and concept design, including consultation with the Host First Nations, is expected to continue through the next two years.
