Based on the Bethesda and Black Isle Studios game franchise of the same name, the Prime Video show is taking an original approach to adapting its source material, borrowing elements from the games, like the iconic Pip-Boy and Vaults, while also telling a new story with new characters.

In honor of the show's premiere, Screen Rant interviewed MacLachlan to discuss Fallout, building a real father-daughter bond with Purnell while filming, how a practical effects-driven set can benefit an actor, as well as his excitement to see the recently released Dune: Part Two. Kyle MacLachlan: I love when it's immersive like this. When you come onto set, you look around and you step into a world, and I'm thinking particularly of some of the tunnels in the Vault, or even in the wide open spaces with the corn fields and the beautiful — not projection, but the computer screen Volume stage that we had, where all the backdrop was on display. It really impacts how you, as a character, respond.
