A luxury hideaway on the Cretan coast
Until recently, I'd never been to Greece. In my mind were images of beautiful but crammed beaches, pristine white houses to be posed with by equally pristine clientele, and noisy streets due to the country's soaring popularity .As soon as you turn down the windy, sandy road to this luxury bolthole, greeted by a huge water feature outside and a vast reception area overlooking the sea, you get a feeling of blissful isolation.
And boy, that pool. We stayed in one of the Luxury Seafront Guestrooms with Private Pool , and I'm not ashamed to admit that a majority of our stay was spent in that pool. Grab a local beer from the mini bar, buy a pool float from the hotel shop , and soak up the sun from your own private pool overlooking the sea. If it sounds like pure bliss, that's because it was.
The main restaurant, F-Zin Ivy League Restaurant, serves up a delicious mix of international and local cuisine, and is where guests head for a huge buffet breakfast each morning, and for a formal dinner overlooking the twinkling lights down the coastline in the evening. At breakfast, there's everything you can think of. We counted five different types of cheese, a whole table for pastries and bread, chefs cooking up sizzling pans of hot food, and a whole host of sweet treats .
