A donor registration drive at Park Cities Baptist Church this Sunday aims to help Pike Petersen find a genetic match willing to donate blood stem cells.
Soon after Pike’s diagnosis, Mica learned he would likely need a blood stem cell transplant. She connected with an organization called Earl Young’s Team, which agreed to help her set up a donor registration drive. Mica texted a church group chat and three friends jumped in.
A sign for a bone marrow and blood stem cell donor registration drive sits in the front yard of Mica Petersen’s home, Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2023, in Dallas. Petersen’s son Pike Petersen, 13, was recently diagnosed with leukemia.
