Have times really changed all that much over the years? Albert Einstein did not speak until he was 3 years old. His teachers called him lazy and easily distracted. How did he accept that criticism of his attitude and behaviour? He used that lack of confidence in him to develop the theory of relativity that would give him the title of Father of Modern Physics. Thomas Edison failed between 1,000 and 10,000 times before he invented the light bulb! Did he just give up? Obviously not because we have lights all over the world! Walt Disney was fired from his first job as a reporter at Kansas City Star because his editor told him he didn’t have enough imagination or creativity. Did he just accept that opinion and live down to it? No- we have all seen his creativity and imagination come alive on the movie screen. How were these people able to persevere inspite of others’ opinions? They conquered the mountain that stood in their way. Our concerns, worries and heartaches that seem insurmountable are our mountains! Perhaps we face a bleak tomorrow financially. Maybe our health or the health of loved ones gives us cause for concern. Maybe we are feeling emotionally drained, finding ourselves between a rock and a hard place for whatever reason. Maybe we dread having to get up and face another day of uncertainty in our own life or home. No one is above having concerns about something! Our God knows exactly where we are in our thoughts even at this moment. It has been proven time and time again that when life as we plan it fails, we will either turn to God or turn away from Him.Think your prayers are too simple to be heard? Think again.The promises in Isaiah 40:28-31 hold true for each one of us today- we may grow weary, faint and even be ready to give up. We may even dare to question why we are still here when life seems so difficult and we feel so helpless. But we have hope that the God of yesteryear is the God of today and in His strength we will push forward into tomorrow because He is helping us to climb that mountain!It has been our privilege to have the trust and support of our East Coast communities for the last 200 years.
