STORY CONTINUES BELOW THESE SALTWIRE VIDEOSHoly Week will soon be upon us and for the Christian believer this time will be special for each of us. We will remember the road to Calvary where Jesus endured suffering at the cruel hands of the Roman soldiers and the taunting of the crowds. It was on the Cross, that emblem of suffering and shame where Jesus gave His life for our sins. It was where the plan of salvation from the beginning of the world was made complete.
I remember many Easter Sundays when our church held Easter Sunrise services there. The Salvation Army Band and church members would hold a service there at the very edge of the hill where you could look out for miles at the surrounding countryside. It was a place of quietness and tranquility, where you felt the presence of God in a real manner.
On Easter Sunday morning, our church would go out to the Green Hill lookoff and hold a Sunrise service. It was a yearly activity and we were drawn back there for many subsequent years. It was a place of solitude and remembrance for the sacrifices Christ made for us. Years later in my adulthood, my wife and family would attend along with our band. There was no one else in the park at the time and we had the park to ourselves.
