Facebook post leads to mailbox surprise for 102-year-old Langford veteran

A Second World War veteran in Langford was on the receiving end of the positive side of Facebook after a post led to a birthday surprise.

After someone posted on Facebook asking for letters to be sent to a Second World War veteran, people stepped up and flooded Donovan Nixon with mail.

Very few things can surprise Donovan Nixon. At his home in a seniors residence in Langford, there’s a routine. On the coffee table in his suite sits a wooden-bound scrapbook that chronicles the life and career of Capt. Donovan Nixon of the Royal Canadian Air Force.
