OSLO - The European data regulator has agreed to extend a ban on"behavioural advertising" on Facebook and Instagram to cover all 30 countries in the European Union and the European Economic Area, Norway's data regulator said late on Tuesday.
"We are very pleased that the European Data Protection Board agrees with Datatilsynet's assessment and extends our ban. The aim is that citizens across Europe will have better privacy," the head of the Norwegian data regulator, Line Coll, said in a statement. Datatilsynet in September said it had referred the ongoing fine to the European regulator, as its fine was valid in Norway only and due to expire on Nov. 3. It will now be made permanent.
