Many trees are unstable or have fallen after record rainfall that has saturated the ground.
In late March alone, fallen eucalyptus and oak trees have blocked major Oakland hills arteries, including Shepherd Canyon Road, Skyline Boulevard, Grizzly Peak and Pinehurst. Downed power lines have caused outages across Oakland, causing businesses on Leimert Boulevard and beyond to go dark. While Punxsutawney Phil did predicted six more weeks of winter back on Groundhog Day, even he didn’t expect it to last this long.
