Los Angeles, Ventura, and San Diego counties brace for potentially explosive fire conditions due to strong winds and low humidity.

Extreme fire weather conditions are expected to grip parts of Los Angeles , Ventura , and San Diego counties from Monday afternoon through Tuesday morning, posing a significant risk of rapid fire growth. Gusts could reach up to 70 mph (113 kph) along the coast and a formidable 100 mph (160 kph) in the mountains and foothills. This perilous situation is fueled by low humidity levels, creating an environment primed for explosive fire behavior.

Andrew Rorke, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Oxnard, underscored the severity of the situation, stating, 'The conditions are ripe for explosive fire growth should a fire start.'Los Angeles fire crews responded swiftly to two brush fires that ignited on Monday. A small brush fire south of the iconic Griffith Observatory was quickly extinguished, and a suspect was taken into custody by the Los Angeles Police Department. Another brush fire along Interstate 405 in Granada Hills temporarily closed northbound lanes but was quickly brought under control. Further south, fire crews in Poway, San Diego County, aggressively battled a blaze that sparked Monday afternoon, successfully halting its forward progress. The recent wildfires have ravaged the region, prompting calls for collaboration between state and federal agencies. Governor Gavin Newsom emphasized the need for such partnership, stating, 'I look forward to President Trump’s visit to Los Angeles and his mobilization of the full weight of the federal government to help our fellow Americans recover and rebuild.' While a small amount of rain is forecast for the weekend, gusty winds are expected to return on Thursday, raising concerns about the potential for renewed fire activity. Authorities are urging residents to take precautions such as avoiding lawn mowing and exercising extreme caution with any potential fire sources. They also advise reviewing evacuation plans, preparing emergency kits, and remaining vigilant for any new outbreaks
