Explosion during training exercise sparks fire near Marine Corps Air Station Miramar [Breaking]
A brush fire ignited during ordnance training near Marine Corps Air Station Miramar and had burned about two acres Tuesday afternoon, fire authorities said.
The explosion happened around 2:30 p.m. near Sycamore Canyon, said U.S. Marine Lt. Jacoby Hawkins. No injuries were reported and no structures were threatened. Multiple helicopters and assisting ground crews from nearby departments were called in to assist Marine firefighters with fighting the fire, Hawkins said.
