Expect heavy rain and snow in the GTA later this week. Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement warning of up to 30 millimetres of rain on Thursday, with anywhere from five to 10 centimetres of snow on Friday.
GTA commuters may be faced with a challenging trip home on Thursday evening, with heavy rain expected in the region starting on Thursday afternoon.for Toronto and the GTA, warning of between 15 to 30 millimetres of rain.The rain is expected to turn into snow by Friday morning.
While it is expected to be primarily a rain event in Toronto, Environment Canada metrologist Lucas Alexopoulos said some areas may get anywhere between five to 10 centimetres of snow. “There's still uncertainty with the track of this Colorado low which will influence the amount of snow,” Alexopoulos told the Star, referring to an area of low pressure which has developed in the Colorado area.
Environment Canada is also warning that partially frozen ground can affect the ability for rainfall to be absorbed. The agency says because of the uncertainty around the track of the Colorado low, rainfall amounts can change as well.
