Amber Guyger, the former Dallas police officer who fatally shot an unarmed black man in his apartment, was distracted, a prosecutor said at the trial.
The former Dallas police officer who fatally shot an unarmed black man in his apartment was distracted by a phone call with a lover, a prosecutor said Monday.
The accountant from St. Lucia never posed a threat to Guyger, said Dallas County Assistant District Attorney Jason Hermus, and he was eating a bowl of ice cream in his living room when she entered on Sept. 6, 2018. Defense attorney Robert Rogers dismissed the relationship as irrelevant to the murder trial. Dozens of other tenants in the building, he added, regularly parked on the wrong floor and tried to enter the wrong apartment. Different floors looked identical, he said.
