Huizar entered the plea to racketeering conspiracy and tax evasion Friday in a downtown Los Angeles courtroom. Sentencing was scheduled for April 3. He faces a sentence of up to 25 years in prison, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office. "I want to apologize to my family, constituents, and to the City of Los Angeles," Huizar said in a statement."My actions were not acceptable, and I will accept the consequences for my actions. It is time for healing. My family needs some healing, and I hope that my acceptance of responsibility will allow the city to heal from the harm that my actions have caused."
