Jurors in a federal civil court trial will hear from a former Balch Springs police officer who is serving time for murder. Roy Oliver will try to convince them he did not use excessive force when he shot and killed Jordan Edwards six years ago.
In 2018, Oliver was convicted of murdering Edwards, who was 15 years old at the time.
On the witness stand Wednesday, Oliver said every life he has taken has been difficult. He revealed to the jury that he served a combat tour in Iraq. Outside the courtroom, FOX 4 spoke to one witness who testified that no officers appeared to be in danger that night.
