But when the lockdown lifts, the moratorium will end. And tenants will have to pay their back-rent or move out.
Tenants who receive federal rent assistance or rent on a property that has a federally-backed mortgageallows paycheck garnishment to resume.the court’s order, saying it “offers a lifeline to many Texans who are beginning to feel the economic impact of COVID-19.” Many states around the country put similar orders in place, but some — like Texas — plan to end those protections.
