Everything we learned at Blackpool Pleasure Beach's legendary, wild and wonderful Hot Ice Rapture show
There's that delicate balance between staying true and faithful to history and what gave it its popularity in the first place, and offering something fresh and new to keep it contemporary and not repetitive. Hot Ice, Blackpool Pleasure Beach's annual summer show at the park's onsite arena has had to do just that since it first opened its first show, Marina, in 1936.
LancsLive went alone to an evening performance of the show, which runs for the peak season until September 10. Here's a few things we learnt and we'll try our best to avoid spoilers. You're taken to the chilly tips of the mountains, the dry heat of the desert, the dense tropical rainforest, flying through a twinkling high-rise city skyline and floating above the clouds. The staging is slick and professional, worthy of any Las Vegas-scale cabaret show.
Prepare for a million sequins and thousands of feathers This was Strictly Come Dancing's most sequined episode ever, times a hundred. It's impossible not to be impressed by the intricates of the costumes, which are constantly changing, with each performer easily wearing 10 different costumes during the shows.
