Subject of emergency alert message arrested - May 2, 2024 | SaltWire #dartmouth #update #suspectGLACE BAY, N.S. — On Dec. 15, 1902, Guglielmo Marconi changed the way we communicate globally when he transmitted the first transatlantic wireless message from Glace Bay to Cornwall, England.
Mya McFadgen: “It's amazing that this invention happened right in Glace Bay where we live and we don't really learn too much about it or hear too much about it.” Chris Connors/Cape Breton Post - cc“We've really learned a whole lot about just how his whole invention just helps us from back then to now and how really a lot of things that we do in our daily life we wouldn't have if he didn't invent what he did back then and make his realizations.
Cloe Maxner: “I came here as a kid all the time so it's crazy to think that back then, right here, he was doing the same thing, and when I was a kid I was just playing up here." Chris Connors/Cape Breton Post - ccFellow Interact members Mya McFadgen and Holly Wells had never visited the site before they began working on the presentation.
Wells said she only knew Marconi’s name because the local Nova Scotia Community College campus bore his name. “I don't think anyone would have envisioned 150 years ago that this would be where we're at here — seeing people actually able to talk and interact and share thoughts and ideas like this. It's really truly amazing,” he said.
