Arsenal will be without Martin Odegaard for the foreseeable future after their captain picked up an ankle injury on international duty whilst playing for Norway
Arsenal captain Odegaard has got the first game back - against Nottingham Forest at home - as a potential return after the November international break. Gunners boss Mikel Arteta revealed that Odegaard’s injury has turned out to be worse than both his club and his country first feared.
But they are taking the best possible care to make sure Odegaard comes back fully fit after he sustained the injury while on international duty for Norway against Austria. The injury took time for swelling to go down and initially it was hoped that Odegaard had suffered a smaller sprain and had avoided ligament damage.
Arteta fielded a patched-up team against Tottenham with Thomas Partey and Jorginho in midfield and they will be boosted by Declan Rice ’s return for Arsenal’s title crunch at Manchester City on Sunday. New midfield signing Mikel Merino is also out injured after suffering a fracture in his shoulder but he expects to be back next month which will be a huge boost.
