Moon Knight star Ethan Hawke reveals his favorite performance in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe: 'I do think I have to give a shoutout to Vincent D'Onofrio as Fisk. That is a great character portrait.'

Moon Knight star Ethan Hawke reveals his favorite performance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Known for various supporting roles over the years, including his Academy Award-nominated performances in 2001's Training Day and 2014's Boyhood, Hawke makes his MCU debut in the newest Marvel series, Moon Knight, as the primary antagonist Arthur Harrow.

Isaac leads the cast of Moon Knight alongside May Calamawy, Karim El Hakim, Ann Akinjirin, David Ganly, Khalid Abdalla, Gaspard Ulliel, and F. Murray Abraham as the voice of Khonshu. Over six episodes, the show has followed the two alters of Isaac's character, Steven Grant and Marc Spector, as they learn the truth about their identities and come into conflict with Harrow, a cult leader associated with the Egyptian goddess Ammit.

It would be very easy to say Robert Downey, because that was a high water mark for me. But in truth, I do think I have to give a shoutout to Vincent D'Onofrio as Fisk. That is a great character portrait. That's a great performance, and when I took this job, I was aiming at him. D'Onofrio undoubtedly set the modern bar for comic book villains in live-action with his performance as Wilson Fisk, a.k.a Kingpin. The actor debuted as the powerful businessman and crime lord in Netflix's Daredevil series, which lasted for three seasons before being canceled. D'Onofrio's performance was so beloved that Marvel Studios didn't dare to recast him when Kingpin was brought into the MCU via the Hawkeye series on Disney+.

While there may have been more popular choices for Hawke to go with, Marvel fans certainly aren't going to take issue with his answer. Perhaps Hawke is just returning the compliment, as D'Onofrio previously praised Hawke's villainous performance in Moon Knight. While the future of D'Onofrio and Hawke's villains remain uncertain at the end of Hawkeye and Moon Knight, perhaps the two admirers of each others' performances could meet up sometime later in the MCU.
