The suit also alleged negligence by the rental car company who gave Haskins his vehicle, the Florida Department of Transportation and the contractor who posts signage along the I-595 roadway. The medical examiner ruled Haskins' death to be an accident, with multiple blunt-force injuries to be the cause. No criminal charges have been filed.
