The “Corner Gas” alum is back onstage in Coal Mine Theatre’s production of Lisa D’amour’s “Detroit,” a dark and funny commentary on the decline of the middle class.
TV fans know actor Eric Peterson as Oscar on “Corner Gas” and its animated revival, or maybe as Leon on beloved courtroom drama “Street Legal.” Eagle-eyed “Umbrella Academy” aficionados will remember his Season 1 turn as the surly boxing gym owner Al.Peterson starred in landmark Canadian play “The Farm Show” in 1972, a Theatre Passe Muraille commission that turned interviews with farmers in Clifton, Ont., into compelling, resonant drama.
“In the play, even though you’re watching individual lives play out over a hedge, you’re also watching something that reverberates into newspapers and radio, which then fold into our lived experience of the moment,” he said. “The atmosphere with those audiences was incredible, the same as before the pandemic. People were experiencing their first public outing in two years,” said Peterson.
