The result is a compartmentalised"community kit bag" that stores medical equipment in an orderly, hygienic way. Designed with disease control in mind, it's is made from anti-bacterial and infection resistant material. It also has a sterile flap that doubles as a treatment surface. To test how useful the bags really are, the hospital trust followed 100 nurses over a period of five weeks, logging stock wastage, number of patients seen and more.
They're also working to improve their design and make the bags more accessible. The team is already working on a backpack version, as well as a kit bag on wheels for nurses who can't carry it on their shoulders.
