Emmy nominations 2019: Snubs and surprises.
The morning of the Emmy nominations ceremony is always thrilling for some -- and a letdown for others.
Though Julia Roberts is an Academy Award-winning actress with decades of experience in Hollywood, she didn't star in a TV series until last year, in"Homecoming." Many expected her to nab a nomination in the best dramatic actress category, but she didn't. Supporting actor Bobby Canavale also came up short, as did male lead Stephan James. In fact,"Homecoming" only earned one nomination, for cinematography.
CBS All Access' series,"The Good Fight," was expected to get some recognition, with maybe a nod for its star, Christine Baranski, but it received no love from the Academy. "Schitt's Creek," a POP TV series that has developed a cult following, picked up four nominations, including best comedy series, and individual nods for stars Eugene Levy and Catherine O'Hara.
