“I would say on both sides of the ball he has been awesome,” Diamondbacks first baseman Christian Walker said. “The slug is obviously there. Even outside the homers, I feel like he’s been putting together really good at-bats. I think it’s another potential power threat in the lineup and that means a lot. The dynamic of the team is a lot of speed, a lot of ways to kind of steal 90 feet, so it’s helpful to have somebody that can drive some runs in and split a gap.
“I feel super good right now,” Rivera said, speaking through interpreter Alex Arpiza. “The most important thing right now is the confidence. That’s what I really have working for me right now.” “I was looking for a good pitch to hit, being a little more aggressive in that at-bat,” Rivera said. “I was looking for a first-ball fastball.”
