First responders in London, Ont., are searching the Thames River after it was reported that a young girl entered the waters on Thursday afternoon.London Fire Department rescue crews and police were on scene along a large portion of the Thames River on Aug. 1, 2024, while searching for a missing child who fire officials said was last seen by onlookers struggling in the river.First responders in London, Ont.

A woman confirmed by several members of the community to be the missing child's mother was seen at the scene talking to police. Adelaide Street was reduced to one lane in both directions from Kipps Lane to Windermere Road for several hours as firefighters used an elevated ladder to scan the surface of the river from the bridge. As of 6:15 p.m., the lane closures were no longer in effect.
