Everyone in the small town was rocked by the news of a 14-year-old boy who is accused of killing his family on Labor Day.

Mariah TimmsELKMONT, Ala. — Mary Clinard remembers raising her own children in the brown, one-story house set back from the road in rural Alabama. It's shaded on three sides by tall trees and backs up onto a walking path.

"Every time I look down there, I think of those kids," her husband, Wayne, said."Everything has changed. Everything." "He was kind. He was a nice, polite kid. I don't know what happened, but I hope they can help him," Mary Clinard said."He was kind to his siblings. His daddy told him he loved him when he went in the house. They seemed like a good, healthy family."

"Please be in prayer for our school and community. We will have extra counselors at school today," Elkmont High School tweeted. "He tried to act tough, but he'd melt in a minute. He was a gentle giant. I'm going to miss him," he said.
