There were 102 incidents flagged by staff throughout the last election — 78 required police intervention

Stéphane Perrault told MPs during a committee meeting Thursday that Elections Canada is considering hiring more security at polling stations or getting police forces involved.

“We’ve seen instances that were quite disheartening in that regard. We need to be alert to that and monitor it to get some signals as to where instances could happen, whether additional security is required and whether police forces need to be informed of that,” he added.Article content, in which it noted that most incidents involved people refusing to wear a mask at the polling station.

“Most incidents at the polls involved the refusal to wear a mask, while most protests were related to either mask mandates or vaccination policies,” read the report.
