Desde que la Legislatura de Texas aprobó las leyes que prohíben el voto las 24 horas y a través de autoservicios, los funcionarios del Condado de Travis han estado preocupados por la participación de los votantes en las elecciones de Noviembre.
"Se ha reducido el lapso en que la gente puede ir a votar de manera anticipada", dijo la Comisionada del Precinto 4 Margaret Gómez este martes ante la Corte de Comisionados."En su afán por dificultar el voto, ¿qué ha hecho la Legislatura?". El martes, los comisionados del Condado de Travis aprobaron nuevos horarios de votación durante la votación anticipada, que comienza el 24 de Octubre y se extiende hasta el 4 de Noviembre. El horario regular de votación es de 7 a.m. a 7 p.m. Pero ahora la gente podrá votar en los llamados"megacentros" de votación hasta las 9 p.m. el sábado 29 de Octubre y el último día de votación anticipada.
La oficina del secretario dijo que la ampliación de las horas tendrá un costo adicional de $2,115, elevando el presupuesto total del condado para esta elección a $ 11,185.ELECTION UPDATE: Early voting hours for the Nov 8 General Election have been extended for the 5 mega-centers on Saturday, Oct 29 + the last day of early voting, Friday, Nov 4.
All 5 mega-centers will be open these 2 days from 7am-9pm. All other locations will be open until 7pm.
