The Edmonton Oilers are keeping Mattias Janmark in town, signing him to a three-year contract worth $1.45 million per season....
— Frank Seravalli Janmark was recently part of Edmonton’s playoff push, registering eight points in 25 playoff games. That includes a goal and two points in Game 4, and the Oilers’ only goal in Game 7 to make it 1-1 in an eventual loss to Florida. Janmark has played two years in Edmonton, starting his tenure with 10 goals and 25 points last year. He struggled with just 12 points in 71 games this year, but helped boost his profile as an energetic, two-way forward with a strong playoff run.
Drafted 79th overall in 2013 by the Detroit Red Wings, Janmark never played a game for the club. Instead, he made his NHL debut with the Dallas Stars in 2015-16, scoring 15 goals and 29 points in 2015-16. He set a career-high of 19 goals and 34 points with Dallas in 2017-18 and, for the most part, has been good for at least 25 points a season.was re-joining the Oilers, although details of the contract are unknown.
The Oilers acquired Stecher from Arizona ahead of the NHL Trade Deadline in March, but he had just two assists in seven games and didn’t play in the postseason. The 30-year-old has played for Vancouver, Detroit, Los Angeles, Arizona and Calgary throughout his career, and also helped Canada win gold at the 2021 World Championship, two years after taking home silver.
The Oilers still need to sign Dylan Holloway and Philip Broberg as restricted free agents. The only AHLer in need of a new deal is Raphael Lavoie, who has arbitration rights.
