Proponents of kicking smartphones out of class say it will be more conducive to learning. Buzzing notifications and text alerts are detrimental to concentration, and they hope that by limiting student temptation to check devices, there will be fewer interruptions, leading to increased engagement and knowledge.Then there's the whole issue of youth already getting too much screen time.
In late July, UNESCO offered a temperate suggestion when it released the 2023 Global Education Monitoring Report, calling for technology use in class only"when it supports learning outcomes, and this includes the use of smartphones." "Students need to learn the risks and opportunities that come with technology and not be shielded from them entirely," UNESCO says.
