Two years ago, a violent mob in that city pulled down statues of Queen Elizabeth II and Queen Victoria. Victoria’s statue was damaged beyond repair. She apparently dislikes the institution she represents. It would be more fitting for her to point out that constitutional monarchies are a very stable form of democracy.
The destruction of Victoria’s statue caused shockwaves in the art world — just not in Canada, where hooliganism apparently is a state-sanctioned pastime.
