The bad news for Liberals is that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s disapproval rating, at 50%, is his second-worst showing since entering politics. For the Conservatives, the good news is the Liberals aren’t making any headway in their bid to win a majority government next election, which if the Liberal-NDP accord holds will be in 2025.

Most Canadians haven’t made up their minds about Conservative leadership frontrunner Pierre Poilievre.Considering the pounding he’s taken from the Liberals, much of the media and other leadership candidates for months, that may mean he has room to grow, depending on his performance as opposition leader, assuming he wins the leadership race on Sept. 10.
