In a Twitter exchange, Bittle implied Geist was only complaining because Diversity Minister Ahmed Hussen, who eventually fired Marouf, is black. Bittle, parliamentary secretary to Heritage Minister Pablo Rodriguez, lost it when Geist argued Rodriquez should take responsibility for Marouf’s hiring because financial support for the $133,000 taxpayer-funded project came from a Canadian Heritage anti-racism program.
