Hawks' Metcalf becomes a pain in the neck to those trying to stop him
Heading into the 2019 draft, there were any number of questions about DK Metcalf’s future as a wide receiver in the NFL.
As it happens, the Seattle Seahawks were aware of all the blemishes on Metcalf’s CV but, as the draft entered the latter stages of the second round with eight receivers already off the board, they were aware of a couple of other things: Whatever else he was, Metcalf was a 6-foot-4, 230-pound physical freak who ran a 4.3 in the 40 coupled with a 40-inch vertical jump.
But this season they’ve also revealed a few dimensions to their team and, even if they haven’t always been convincing, they’ve found a way when it mattered most. As a result of that performance, he received star treatment in the run-up to this weekend’s encounter with the Packers, including a shout-out from LeBron James on social media and a number of features in the national media.
