A study shows a concerning association between emergency department use before pregnancy and a higher risk for poor mom and baby outcomes.

They were compared with 1,912,234 female patients who did not have an ED visit before getting pregnant.tap here to see other videos from our teamData from April 2003 to January 2020 shows 9.7% of the entire cohort had an ED visit within 90 days before becoming pregnant. Of the women who did visit the ED before getting pregnant, a fifth of them made that visit for pregnancy-related reasons, such as a prior pregnancy, miscarriage or abortion.
