Eclipse 2024: Bay Area watch parties gear up for partial viewing of celestial event

There are sold-out eclipse viewing parties at several locations around the Bay Area that will also offer livestreams of the total eclipse from other parts of the country.

Cornell Barnard, Lena HowlandMillions of Americans in 13 states will experience a total eclipse on Monday. Here in the Bay Area, we'll see a partial 34% eclipse, but excitement is still high.

Across the Bay in San Francisco, Exploratorium visitors can watch the total eclipse broadcasts from Texas and Mexico. Dr. Whitmore and her staff will broadcast live from Texas on the Exploratorium's website and YouTube channel during the eclipse, starting at 10:45 a.m. Pacific Time.Texas is one of 13 states that will experience totality -- about four minutes of darkness.
