“B.C. has an abundance of critical minerals other countries need,” the BC NDP leader said. “Getting them to world markets means less dependence on the U.S. while creating family-supporting jobs and the prosperity needed to strengthen health care and public services.
” Eby outlined a plan that would accelerate approvals for major mines and cut timelines by 60 per cent; fast-track the North Coast Transmission Line to provide clean energy to mining projects; build a skilled, union-led workforce; meet fixed permitting timelines for mining exploration; and protect worker safety. He also committed to working with the Prince Rupert Port Authority and federal government to expand the port and its supporting infrastructure .
Eby attacked the Conservatives saying they oppose these plans jeopardizing a $20 billion agreement with the federal government that “sets British Columbia on a generational path to prosperity. He also committed to spending $5 million to help Prince Rupert grow its burgeoning cruise ship economy.
