A man was shot and seriously wounded Monday afternoon while driving through East Oakland.
OAKLAND — A man was in critical condition after he was shot Monday afternoon while he drove in East Oakland, authorities said.
The shooting was reported about 2:23 p.m. in the 2100 block of Foothill Boulevard. Initial reports were that the man, who is believed to be in his 30s, was driving eastbound on Foothill in an SUV when someone began shooting at him.The man was wounded at least once in the chest but was able to turn northbound on 21st Avenue where he crashed into a parked SUV, shoving it into another parked vehicle.
A motive for the shooting is under investigation. No arrests have been announced. Stretches of Foothill Boulevard and 21st Avenue were shut down for several hours while police investigated. Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $7,500 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the shooter.
