Despite unseasonable warmth affecting operations in recent years, Earl Bales Ski and Snowboard Centre is gearing up for a successful winter season thanks to its snow-making capabilities.
In 2021, Earl Bales Park stood as the last remaining ski hill within Toronto 's city limits, offering skiers a convenient escape to the slopes without venturing far. However, the 2023-2024 winter season presented a significant challenge, with unseasonably warm conditions making it nearly impossible for the ski hill to operate. But as we approach the 2025 winter season, conditions are looking much more promising.
While you might notice a lack of natural snowfall, the park's snow-making machine is ready to step in. As long as temperatures remain consistently at or below -5 degrees Celsius, skiers can anticipate a full-fledged winter wonderland experience. Earl Bales Park, situated near Bathurst and Sheppard, caters to both beginners and experienced skiers. A beginner's hill equipped with a rope tow offers a gentle introduction to the slopes. For seasoned skiers, the main hill boasts two runs accessible by chairlift, ensuring a thrilling experience. The ski season is scheduled to run until March 16, weather permitting. The Earl Bales Ski and Snowboard Centre is open from 3 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday to Friday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends. Visitors can conveniently purchase ski memberships, lift tickets, and equipment rentals on site.
