In 2020, the hospital treated less than 40 e-bike injury victims — in 2022, the figure was more than 100. On public streets, e-bikes must follow what are called the rules of the road, the same as cars, trucks and motorcycles. Red lights and the speed limit must be obeyed, and they must roll along in the same direction as traditional traffic. They can go in bike lanes and, unless a local government says otherwise, on sidewalks.
