Stephen Conroy says Peter Dutton is being 'too clever by half' by using the 'terrible situation' in Alice Springs to avoid talking about the Voice to Parliament, an accusation slammed by Michael Kroger.
Mr Dutton and has spent the past two days with Senator Jacinta Price in the central Australian town, speaking to locals and highlighting the endemic issues of youth crime and child sexual abuse.
Speaking to Sky News Australia’s Kieran Gilbert, the former Labor powerbroker said opposition leader was using the trip to avoid talking about the Coalition’s position on the Voice to Parliament – which led to Julian Leeser's resignation from the shadow frontbench on Tuesday. “Stop trying to use the issue of Alice Springs as a reason to not talk about and debate the Voice referendum.”
“For Dutton to be criticized for going there shows you how poor this debate has become. When people think… that there is some sort of political game being played. That is completely disingenuous, It’s completely untrue.
