Duhaime said Quebecers are abandoning the Parti Québécois and the Liberals. His party, which he claims is the largest in Quebec, will be part of the future political landscape for decades to come. Duhaime has pledged to repeal Bill 96, and said the divisive language law passed by Legault’s government does little to further the cause of French, but instead pits communities against each other.

In a bilingual speech, Duhaime said his is the only party that opposed Bill 96 from the beginning. He said the Quebec Liberal Party betrayed the anglophone community by backing key components of the bill, which was passed into law in June and“They took you for granted so badly that they didn’t even care about your basic rights,” he said, speaking directly to English voters. “That’s the kind of thing we find unacceptable.
