After giving up three in the sixth end to Thunder Bay’s Claire Dubinsky, the Sudbury skip found herself trailing 5-2.Perreault rebounded with three of her own in the seventh end, then stole another point in the eighth to walk away with a 6-5 come-from-behind win to open the Northern Ontario U21 women’s provincial championship in Timmins.
Dubinsky, who opened with hammer, traded points with Perreault in the first two ends, then too an 2-1 lead in the fourth.After the opening draw, Perreault is tied for top spot with Thunder Bay’s Lily Wright, who beat Cochrane’s Rihanna Third 7-1 on Wednesday night, and New Liskeard’s Rhya Baker, who edged Fort Frances’ Emma Tucker 6-4 in opening draw play.
Wright tangles with Baker on Thursday morning, Dubinsky, who will compete at next week's Northern Ontario women's curling championship in Thunder Bay, takes on Timmins’ Skye Bergounhon and Tucker plays Third. Thunder Bay’s Jacob Curtis and Josh Hari lead their teams into the U18 boys championship starting on Thursday.
