21-year-old was arrested early Saturday morning at Trunk Road and Lake Street

Sault Police say a drunk driver was found asleep at the wheel this weekend — and then reversed his vehicle into a police cruiser when officers woke him up.

At around 3:45 a.m., police were dispatched to the intersection of Lake Street and Trunk Road for a report of a person sleeping in his car.“When awoken by officers, the driver reversed the vehicle into a police cruiser and continued to do so until officers were able to gain access to the vehicle through a window and put the vehicle in park,” says a news release issued today by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service. “None of the responding officers sustained physical injuries.
