People travelling through Hants Border are being asked to find an alternative route after a motorist struck a pole, knocking out power.were called to Highway 1, between Haliburton Street and Avon Street, for a report of a driver hitting a power pole.

The driver “took the pole down, knocked off the fire hydrant; tore a whole bunch of power lines and communication lines down,” said Paul Maynard, a deputy fire chief with the department. Multiple agencies were working together to clear up the scene of a single vehicle collision in Hants Border on the afternoon of March 26. It was thought the area of Highway 1 between Haliburton Street and Avon Street would be closed to the public for a few hours. ContributedMaynard said multiple agencies attended the call, including Emergency Health Services, Nova Scotia Power, Eastlink, Bell, and West Hants Public Works.
